MARK WALKER

I am a personal trainer who believes in the body’s amazing ability to heal itself and have adapted techniques from a variety of different disciplines on my journey out of chronic pain. A rib injury that just would not seem to get better, sustained while learning Jiu Jitsu in 2014, changed my life and caused me to completely re-think how I look at exercise, movement and maintenance of the human body. Over time our muscles and connective tissue can get stuck and restricted due to being sedentary, poor alignment, chronic repetitive movements and stress. These common challenges along with our mindset can hinder the body’s innate healing capacities. The reason that my injury “didn’t’ get better” by itself was because of the state that my body and mind were in before the injury occurred, and healing was not possible for me until I changed those things first. I am still a work in progress but I can tell you with confidence that at age 36 I can bend, move and play better than I could as a teenager.

We live in a culture where moving as little as possible has long been considered a sign of success or affluence. This tendency to delegate natural human movement whenever possible has led to a population that is sedentary to a degree that is unprecedented in human history. Researchers are only beginning to fully understand the health implications of this situation, but many detrimental effects of not moving are already well documented. I specialize in providing unique and effective solutions to my clients in a way that is convenient and enables them to easily integrate these techniques into their daily lives.
